Default Large frame turbo mount

I know the hot side alone will not support the weight of the large frame turbos. Most i see mount the turbos to the car body or frame and flex pipes on the tube going to the engine. Is it possible to make a support mount that bolts to the passenger head to hole the turbo? Thanks

Sure is. Good idea too. You can also rigid mount the engine with motor plates and/or solid engine mounts and mount the turbos rigid to the frame. I put mine on a large "L" shaped 1/4" flat stock, This allowed some movement. This was with solid motor mounts only, no front/mid plates. I never had an issue with cracking over many many years. All mild steel. Also nice to have the turbo mounted to the frame away from the engine so you don't have to pull the turbo to pull the engine.

Generally speaking that is how the guy I build with and myself do it. I tried to find a pic that would show it, but I can't see to find one. To me mounting it to the block/head is the best location to mount it to. This way as it moves, the majority of the hotside moves with it. I always use flex bellows before the turbo mounting flange.

I'm going thru this right now. I have the VSRacing S480 clone and the thing is heavy. I made a cool(to me) brace that mounts to the left and right side frame rails . Used in conjunction with the Monkey Fab T6 mount flange. Measured, cut and welded together. Got it all mounted up,Turbo mounted and I stood back and grinned at my ingenuity. I situated the turbo right in the center line of the engine so as to keep the flexing to a minimum when I placed flex joints right under the merge.

Then I picked up the radiator to see how much room I would have. I slid it down slowly watching the progress.. KLANG... the lower passenger side radiator nipple hit my brace before it got all the way down. So... back to the design board.....I know what I have to do.

Most mounts just cause more stress in the hotside, not less

Look to F1 if you want to know how to properly support a turbo and hotside
