Default Procharger Complete Kit tuning

I ran into this odd situation with my procharger installation. I bought my car used in 2004. It is a 2001 ws6 trans am 6 speed.

One of the steps involved in the installation of the complete kit was the download and email of the factory tune to procharger who later sends you the tune for the supercharger kit. Well, the rep for procharger emailed me back saying that that tune was way different from the factory tune. I responded that I bought a hypertech programmer to only change the rear end gear ratio since I put on a new rear end and new gears and also to change the fan settings since i put in a 195 degree thermostat. He responded that everything was changed.....rev limiter, timing, fuel, etc. etc.

I was stumped so I just decided to use hypertech to return everything to factory settings. I re-downloaded and re-emailed the tune I had. He said nothing had changed. Ultimately, he said he returned everything to stock and made a new file. However, I'm still very stumped.

1. Why was the tune different if I only used it to change the gear ratio and fan temperatures?
2. If hypertech did make a change to the tune by either me accidentally doing so or it just automatically doing it itself, why didn't it return to stock when I used it to return it to stock settings. Also, wouldn't this had taken care of the issue if in fact the previous owner did some tuning?

Running a hypertech is not a good choice when going boosted. You need a real tune to account for more fuel and air and adjusting timing for the boost.

There's plenty of explanations as to why. The load didn't take, you flashed the wrong file, etc. The problem wouldn't have happened if you got a real tune on a dyno.

My guess would be that your hypertech only saved a copy of the tune you already had in the car before you made changes so it would only revert back to the way it was before you made changes not back to the actual stock tune.

I think you're right. I'm guessing the guy before me had done a tune. Only explanation.
