Default Boost gauge not reading

I recently picked up a 2000 T/A with a d1sc procharger. The boost gauge is not reading anything. It illuminates when the lights are turned on but no reading. The line from the gauge it’s T’d into a vacuum line which runs into the intake manifold and the other down to the bypass valve. Would I be better off just redoing it and plumbing into the brake booster line? Here are a few pictures to go with my description.

The vacuum/boost signal is the same regardless of where you get it as long as you are getting it from the intake manifold.

I assume the line going to the gauge is the line with the janky-*** electrical tape connection? If so, get rid of that jacky-*** connection and you might get a proper signal to the gauge. Is this a mechanical gauges (vacuum/boost signal just fed to the gauge) or does it have a sending unit? If a sending unit, is the power wiring to the sending unit working? Is the vacuum/boost line to the gauge in good shape (get rid of the janky-*** connection)?

I laughed when I saw the connection as well and yes I’m going to be fixing that lol. Yes the white line is the one that goes up to the gauge and it seems to be fine. It is just a boost gauge, no vacuum on it. I believe it’s just a mechanical one but I haven’t pulled the pod off the pillar and haven’t seen anything else wires up under the hood

Are you actually looking at it with the throttle wide open and under boost, not just free revving it.
