Need some guidance. Please help I got a choice between a high mileage 2000 model (cast head) lq4 and a low mileage 2004 model lq9. I know the differences are in the pistons and the lq9 is a higher output motor.
the lq9 comes out of a 2004 Cadillac Escalade and the lq4 out of a 2 wheel drive Silverado.
I also heard the rods in the lq9 are stronger.
so I have a two part question. 1. Is the pcm and harness the same between the two and can the lq9 harness and pcm (out of the Cadillac) be used just like the Chevrolet? I know they are the same engines essentially. I’m just wondering about the pcm. 2. What are the drawbacks and advantages of running the lq9 over the lq4 in a boosted application?
