700+ whp air filter
I've done a weeks worth of reading and searching this forum and google about air filters for higher horsepower motors. Currently my car made 780whp on 93 but was running out of injector so we backed it down to 750. Got some 120lb injectors vs the 80lbs and some duel 350 walbros vs the duel 250s shooting to break 800 this summer. I had one of those expensive mushroom filters on the car at the dyno because of space constraints and it messed with literally everything. Boost controller wasn't functioning correctly, WG would not correspond to just spring boost pressure and boost in general was all over the place. We pulled that filter off and boom, everything started working how it should. Its driven on the street a lot and in Vermont there's dust and dirt roads as well. I have the Turbo-Guard screen over it now to try and help but I'd like to run an actual filter. I found a "cobra head" style 90 that may still flow alright to allow an actual filter.

Most of the posts I'd read where quite a bit older and never really had good data, so I was just curious if anyone has run some different filters on the dyno to see what's actually working with higher HP numbers. If I lose 20hp or so to save the turbo/motor I'm willing to make that sacrifice being its mostly a street car. When I called K&N they told me to multiply my crank HP by 1.67 to give me the CFM I need from a filter. Just for safety sake I used 1000hp x 1.67 = 1670CFM. They did give me a couple part numbers of filters with 4" inlets that flowed 1600cfm but idk how accurate they actually are.
