Let’s talk 4.0x Head gaskets Hello everyone! It’s been years since I’ve been on here. It feels good to be back in the game again though!
Like the title says, let’s talk about the latest and greatest 4.0x bore head gaskets. I’ve been out of the Ls game for a few years now and as we all now Ls technology evolves fast even to this day.
My last build was a built bottom end iron block 6.0 with 1/2 head studs and ls9 head gaskets I had no water pushing issues at 20psi.
Before that I had a built bottom end Ls1 that I was squeezing pretty hard around 18psi. It had ARP head studs and I tried both Cometic and Felpro MLS with and without copper spray and could never seem to keep it from lifting the heads or pushing water.
This go around I’m still running an iron block 6.0 Callies bottom end, Wisecos and 1/2 studs. I’m going to send it to the moon. 🚀 I never had trouble with the Ls9 gaskets before. And I remember people really liking them on the 4.0x builds is that still the case? Or should I look for one of the aftermarket brands with copper spray? I just didn’t have the best experience with that years ago. But that I know that was an aluminum block with smaller studs.
