Default question about Park/neutral switch wiring

I posted this in Auto transmissions too but hoping to get more views here...

where in the harness does the wires come from for the park/neutral switch on the side of the tranny? Doing a 4L80E swap and somehow I literally lost the wires/plugs that go into the switch...like I can't find them anywhere and I can't find any pictures that show where in the harness they are or where they should be coming from. I've pretty much determined they are not part of the engine harness at all so they must be coming from somewhere else? FYI this was a complete engine/tranny pull out and rebuild so all of the harness was just hanging for a while...thanks folks.

Are you using a late model 80 with the big switch on the side attached to the shift arm?

Best way IMO. You can use six of those wires and have reverse lights, nss, and the hatch release all work like that.

I’ll dig in my picture and see if I can find it. I’m at my parents so I can’t go out to the Formula and look for you.

This picture will show you at least some of the puzzle on which wires to use. You have to put it in neutral reverse and park to check continuity but the way I separated them for that picture eliminates some at least.

I did this three years ago so I don’t recall exactly what’s what but it’s a lot better using that later model switch.

yeah I am (its a 1999 transmission), with the two plugs. Ok so did the original 4L60E not have that at all? is that the mystery I'm missing?

thanks for all that info, that's awesome!

I have never worked on a F-body so I can't say how a F-body is, but literally every other 60 or 80 I have touched, you can swap the NSS from one to the other. You can use either style switch you prefer as well. Normally to get the NSS off without damaging it, you need to take a file, and go around the outside edge of the shaft it mounts on, until it slides off easily.

F-Body is up on the shifter and console area Just tie those wires up there to the new style switch is what I was saying.
