sch10 runners smaller than collector?
my stretch goal is 700hp after i replace the turbo in the future.
short term goal is 500hp with the 5855, street/drag car, manual transmission use case. fuel will be at least e85 and i plan to experiment with methanol.
after reading this: http://morrisonfabrications.com/larg...old-dyno-test/
i think 1-1/4 sched 10 is the best fit for my goals. i dont want to build a collector from scratch, im ok getting a weld together kit though, but i figure i can build the rest and not do a log.
all the premade/kit collectors i can find use 1-1/2 sch 10 so if i use the 1-1/4 it will end up getting bigger in the collector.
whats everyones thoughts on this? do i go 1-1/4 (1.442 ID) runners to 1-1/2 (1.682 ID) based collector, or make the whole thing from 1-1/2 ?
Yeah I'd probably do the larger collector if it's easier. I don't know that you will see a real difference either way honestly.
Curious if you know any of the flow #'s on the heads? Is there a decent following on those? I used to play with all kinds of 4cyl stuff, but haven't touched one since the LS has so much support and are so cheap.
Im going to port the head and do a valve job on it myself. i bought +0.5mm intake and exhaust valves and found an old black and decker stone grinding setup i forgot i bought a few years ago.
depending on how i feel when i start ordering the rest of the turbo manifold parts will determine whenther i use the premade collector. that stainless material is just such a hassle to cut, it eats blades and takes forever to clean up if you use grinding/abrasive wheels on it.\
thanks for the info.
