Having what appears to be back pressure issues with the Billet 80mm/.96/1.25 T4 on a 370. Anything over 20+psi and it seems to run into a brick wall, so was curious about this one. Still testing, however, since it has the same hot side as the 80mm, it wouldn't do me any good.

Time to do a t6. Maybe move to a 103mm turbine too.

I got a nice 91/102 that would work well lol

t4 stuff seems to get a little backed up in the mid 20’s on bigger motors works well on 4.8/5.3’s

Yes, I know the right answer is a T6, but it's a really big deal to fit a T6 with how I have things configured. I'm too close to the performance goal for the car to do that. Not trying to rotate the earth with this car, just whatever ET it runs with 149.99mph and I expected that to be low-9. It's gone 9.27 so I could call it good, but it's doing with lot's of back pressure and eventually that's gonna hurt something.

What about a vband housing? They tend to be more compact, I’d assume they flow better than the t4 housing.

There's only so much exhaust you can cram through a turbine, I understand the fittament issues, but when your out of turbo, your out of turbo.

That's the plan and will settle for whatever improvement I get out of it.

I can’t see needing a T6 for those goals. Can’t imagine wanting or needing an 88mm comp wheel either. I had a 1.25 T4 housing machined for my big turbine (87/96) Billet S476. At 25ish lbs it put me at 159 with a cam only 5.3. (3100lbs) Hate to say it, as I’m a shoestring budget kinda guy… but I don’t think the VR stuff performs. If you have space constraints and want a performing smaller turbo, the S476-S484 T4 from FI seem to put down the numbers without any issue. My VSR T6 S480 performed roughly the same as the T4 S476 FWIW.

I believe Jarett Faggart was going 8.30s @ 163.7 at 3300lbs SBE 6.0 with a T4 FI S476 on his nova (23lbs) . Also think it was the 92mm exh wheel version. Jose could make ya a mean t4!

I got 1075whp out of the VSR T6 S480 88/96 turbine. When we dyno'd the FI T6 S476 with same 88/96 turbine on a friends car we got 980whp so I can't imagine the T4 making any more. But both are a good bit faster than OP's goal of 149MPH, why the MPH limit out of curiosity?

It's a self-imposed limit to quell the urge to go quicker/faster after having multiple spinal surgeries and hip surgery from a massive wheelie in my Mustang. 4 of my 5 lumbar discs have been operated on and none of the vertabrae are fused, so my lower back is somehat fragile. TBH, I probably shouldn't even be going down a drag strip. I have no intentions of putting a parachute on the so I'm good with the track under 150.

That orange box is the 60' timing block.

Not saying VS stuff can't perform. Only that the T4 FI turbos have been proven to make the power he is after and then some. The T4 VS stuff hasn't that I've seen personally. . Jarret's trap/weight put him over 1000hp with the 92mm turbine.

c16 is a different animal as well. Ethanol burns FASTER than gasoline and will not want or need tons of timing.

Ya didn't need a 5 min video to know C16 wants more timing farting around with 15psi and an engine that already has 26lbs of back pressure isnt a great example of an optimal setup either.
