The 5 liter whipple is here

After a 6 week lead time, the whipple is finally here. It's a w305r 5 liter compressor. I just set it on the intake and set the hat on for scale. It still has to slide back 1.75" to bolt up. I will have to notch the cowl around the bypass valve. But it will be worth it in the end.

Congrats, took a good while for my 4.5 to come in but that was back in 2021.

Pro Stock John Oct 28, 2022 09:17 AM

That looks amazing.

ryeguy2006a Oct 28, 2022 09:21 AM

That looks killer man! Now what you need to do is run a 4.8 LS with that blower so that you can have more 5.0 supercharger on a 4.8 haha.

Black_Sunshine_99 Oct 28, 2022 10:26 AM

Oh. My. God.

91 Z28 Oct 30, 2022 11:37 AM

Oh man that's badass!!

sr71 Oct 30, 2022 08:45 PM

the whipple is 2" taller than the 6-71 was and the bypass sticks out the back another 1.75". today, I got the cowl notched to clear the bypass valve and the blower in place with a few bolts in to hold it where it needs to be. it's going to be badass.

I don't know anything about PD blowers, just aware of some models. Anyone care to share a quick recap of what's out there and how they rank for power potential?

OEM 1.9
2650
etc...

I've heard these big whipples are engineered to not be very loud. Is there any truth to that? That would be a disappoint. :(

Regardless, I can't wait to see this project get running!

I always loved the loud supercharger whine; my buddy had a fox body with a worked over B&M 144 and when he put the hammer down all you could hear was the blower screaming as he pedaled it to find traction.
So awesome.

Be curious to see the OP's response. On the roots stuff, the drive belt determines the noise level. I have 1/2" pitch on mine and it's disappointingly quiet. 8mm is noiser for sure.

Nah, you'll have way more fun with the turbo LS, plus it'll be way more drivable, faster, reliable and on and on lol.

I'm no expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

These are the popular ones I can think of.

LSA 1900 650 to 700wheel
2300 8-900wheel
2650 1000+wheel

Giver or take a bit. Porting and other things can be a variable of course. Numbers will be higher with race gas or E85.

Shooting from the hip I'd think a 5 liter whipple has to be well north of 1500 horsepower capable.

Very very nice... I Personally love the whine whipples make but I have only purchased BDS blowers personally for my corvette and 2 for my offshore boat... Best of luck to ya...
FYI.. I have heard from many many many other performance boat owners Dustin Whipple has thee best tech...customer support. Second to none. So you bought a top notch product with top notch help if needed.

while that is true I have the 8mm Gilmer square belt and pulleys and my BDS all scream loud and whine like an ex wife after she's notified she's entitled to nothing but a rusted shovel and a sauce pan but the whipples have a very distinct whine all their own
.as far as machined to be quiet...i have never heard a quiet whipple and the best most beautiful whipple setups are their offshore quad rotor whipples. Dual superchargers per big block x 2 or 3 big blocks in a boat. So you can imagine why alot of us use wireless or corded head sets to talk to others vs trying to yell over the blowers howling...
