Question Any BOOST LEASH users here?

I am running stock ECU and HPTuners, with no plans to ever change to Holley.
I have been running a TurboSmart EBoost Street boost controller for a few years now.
Running dual wastegates, with 4# springs, using a 4 port mac valve, I am able to make 24.5# of boost, if controller is turned all the way up....but usually only 22.5# as the high number.

Coincidentally, that was the max boost with the old 78/75 turbo, or the new 80/82 turbo...which got me thinking.

I believe it can/should make more boost, and more power, but the boost seems to top out, because I "think" the small WG springs won't allow it to go any higher...that's my theory, anyway...

The PROBLEM, going to a Test & Tune all out passes, also means my transbraked boost is uncontrolled, since the TurboSmart STREET offers no LAUNCH control.
My car launches best at about 7-8#

I've acquired a new "Boost Leash" controller, which has launch control, 5 stages of time based boost control, and scramble, all built in.

Hoping someone here is familiar with them as all info I could find here is years old.

My biggest question...the instructions say to use a 3-5# wastegate spring, IF USING CO2 as your wastegate reference, or use springs at 1/2 your total desired boost, if using BOOST PRESSURE as your reference, which is what I use now.

I'd rather not do the whole CO2 thing if it isn't 100% necessary to do so, but if I up the wastegate springs to, say 14# to run a high of 28#, then the launch control boost (in my mind, at least), can't be LOWERED to launch on 7-8#.

Not sure which option to go with, so posting up for some fresh opinions...

The goal is to whoop my lame *** 3# of boost launch 80/82 turbo pass of 9.37@149, by having some more detailed control of the boost. I'm hopeful it'll go an 8 if the stars are aligned, but am certain it'll go better than it's current best with some more dialing in.

I hope someone with experience on that unit can chime in here , but without an experienced opinion I think gating it to your lowest desired boost (7-8 lbs) would be a place to start . Thinking that if you can go up to 24 with 4 lb springs , 28 with 8 lb springs shouldn't be an issue . Different Combos will always react differently but I can go as low as 6.5 up to 15.5 ( haven't tried higher but that was 83% DC) that's with only a 3 port solenoid. Even 7 lb springs are nearly double what you're running now and I think would give you the range you need. Again hopefully someone with real experience with that unit help with setting it up

I'm using turbo comp for boost control with 14# springs(bench tested really close). Fueltech boost control, set to 4# on transbrake, hits it perfectly & willl also control
boost to less than spring pressure. No reason the boost leash wouldn't do the same. I used a leash briefly & had 7# springs, it would hit my 4-6# target.
Never tried max boost though.

Have setup the boost leash controller on both CO2 and just using boost pressure and it works best on CO2. As far as upping your minimum spring pressure and being worried about your minimum boost raising for your launch, you can always turn down your 2 step to a lower RPM to help compensate and pull some timing out of the lower RPM areas to soften the hit in the main tune as well to help it leave. Way back in the day my old setup in my f-body was just a rod/piston stock cube motor, an ancient 76gts turbo with a TH400 and an also ancient greddy profec boost controller (one of those set it and forget it controllers with no other real features). It went high 8s and all it took was just some massaging of the launch RPM on the 2 step with timing adjustments on one set boost level at ~18 psi where the turbo maxed out. Sure a good controller would have helped but it's totally possible without.
