I have a big collection of widebands from over the years. multiple Innovate, FAST, Dynojet, multiple AEM, AFR500 w/NTK sensor, and a couple more. I have a AFR500 w/NTK sensor and an AEM 30-0334 on my dyno. Innovate was the only brand we saw issues with on multiple occasions. On the dyno my AEM matches the AFR500 within .1 all the time. I also change out my AEM sensor about every 6 months vs get a year sometimes years out of the NTK sensor. In the end its a tuning tool and no wideband is an end all answer. I know of several pro-mods with 8 innovate LC-2 in them, they are used for reference.

the last few times I have just had bad gauges. Screen showing stoich on the little color sweeping band but reading too lean to read on the digital number display. Definitely something wild in the logic controller. It would be Idling at 9:1 and then going crazy lean swinging all over. Driving was the same. Narrowbands never swinging wildly and within 5%. AFR error was either +25% or switch to -25% a few seconds later. New sensor and no changes. Wound up rma’ing the controller and problem solved. Same issue with the last one before my current gauge except it stopped reading all together or would read 11:1 with key on engine off after car was sitting for days. I will say, I don’t replace my sensor religiously. I put about 5k miles on my car since last year and I’d think a Bosch 4.9 would be a bit more resilient..the only thing I could think is my car is a manual and does shoot a fireball on faster shifts above 5,000rpm due to my spark cut. Overtime I guess it could damage the sensor circuitry and in return damage the gauge. I’ll be swapping the sensor and then the controller this weekend and I’ll update what the issue ultimately was.

Just an update to close this thread, I took my new sensor and did a fresh air calc on both of my controllers. Put in the new sensor and issue was the same.. I swapped the new controller gauge in on the side of the road and immediately AFR was back in line during WOT, a bit rich at 10.5:1 on a 12GPH meth nozzle. But it’s so hot and humid here right now it probably is half the air and half having a brand new sensor. It was so damn humid yesterday it would take your breath away. Poured down the rain for about 5 minutes and then back to 98 degrees.
I’ll get a good log to adjust it sometime on my hour morning rides to work.
