Everything I have read/seen is that turbo guards are worse than filters. Especially the finer mesh ones. If people are saying its worse then they can see/feel the difference. The larger opening ones flow better but really only block birds vs small rocks and other stuff that you really want to keep out of the turbo.

Along a similar line...Radiator "bug screens" have reportedly caused as much 15% loss in airflow.
I suspect the same results with the turbo guard.
I've seen serious flow loss with the "dryer duct" type convoluted intake tubes.

DRAGY vs Traps............
Anybody run a DRAGY down track with Christmas tree and traps?
Like to see accuracy comparison for those lucky enough to have PAVED TRACK to play.

I just read on the turboguard website that their "max" screen with the big holes "has 81% open area". I guess it would sound bad if they said "blocks 19% of airflow". They don't even bother mentioning how much the small screen blocks airflow, but it has to be terrible.
