Default Coyote vs LS

Well actually it’s an LT. Not surprisingly they made about the same power as the turbo is most likely the limiting factor.

Thoughts?

I honestly thought the Coyote would do better and beat out the LT by more being a smaller engine with supposedly better flowing heads.
For the LT to be within 19hp on a little 76mm is impressive in its own right.
Getting super excited about E85 now lol.

I’d say both engines were turbo limited they are going to make as much as the turbo will support.

E85 is a blessing for boosted street cars. I’m in Iowa so we’ve been using it for years. Less the $2 a gallon for race fuel is awesome.

Hell less than 2 bucks a gallon for any fuel would be bonkers we are still paying over 5 out here on the left coast.

Yeah when I saw this content shared on FB by Scott Parker I was excited.

Both combos rocked, 14xx hp with small cubes and a T4 76mm turbo is awesome. I feel that the Ford guys knew what the LT combo made, that's why they made 40 dyno pulls...

The coyote has a lot going for it with turbo applications,
- More efficient head design
- More RPM
- Smaller displacement favors higher pressure ratios which turbos love

I'm not surprised it was as close as it was with the turbo being the limiting factor, it's only going to flow so much air. What did surprise me was the Coyote's need to have CO2 and that it took nearly twice as many runs to produce their results. However I bet if LME had another few runs with just another half a degree of timing or whatever it might have gone in the other direction just because it was so close.

I’m a little suspicious that the coyote team may have known the number they had to beat as well.

Lme made 21 pulls if I remember correctly and the coyote team made 40 pulls.

For sure if I’m in a competition and know I need 19 more horses in a dyno I’m finding a way lol.

They got a lot of backlash after the Procharger coyote vs LS deal since the LS was 427 inches. The ford fans cried so they took away the only advantage the LS has which is the ability to have much larger cubes in a smaller foot print. They also ignored avg power or torque that they previously went by and only considered the peak number which gives the smaller cubic inch motor that can spin higher an advantage.

Now they are putting them in c10’s and have to post a drag time and run some street miles.

Overall I think lme killed it considering the rules.

Yeah I think it would have been nice for the LME guys to have another crack at it. What heads and intake were on this engine?

40 dyno pulls is a lot. But good for the Coyote guys to hit 1419 hp.

Holy cow. Regular 89 octane unleaded is 2.49 currently in my home town. It costs me 20 bucks a week to drive to work.
