Who has installed an ATI damper?

I received my ATI damper last night, and the instructions say that you will probably have to hone the hub a little.

Did any of you have to hone or do anything special to install your ATI damper?

It says that? that's surprising cause the whole primise of the ATI dampener is they are super balenced so i'd think the last thing you'd want to do is hone it. But to set the record straight, no, you do not have to hone it. What you do have to do is boil the hub for about 10 mins to let it expand a little bit. If your instructions don't mention anything about boiling it I might call them up and make sure you were sent the correct unit.

Are you going to key the crank?

I took some of the coating of using 1000 grit sand paper. I Used a little bit of antiseiz on the crank too. BTW I was read the same thing you did.

There is an insert that says "if you are installing an aluminum hub, then follow these installation instructions. Boil the hub for 10 minutes."

The insert for installation of non aluminum hubs doesn't mention boiling the hub.

I am going to have a shop install it, so I just wanted to prepare the shop (who has probably never installed this kind of damper) for the possible problems they may have.

I changed my stock to an underdrive a couple of years ago, but is was a pain in the a$$ to do, so I am having someone else do it this time.
