That's the thing, we couldn't come close to touching 21 pounds non intercooled on pump gas without the meth. It had a good street tune for 15 psi, it would run ok on the dyno at 18 psi on pump gas, but it was right on the ragged edge of detonation, we figured if the motor gets heatsoaked on the street it would be a moving timebomb so we kept it at 15 psi unless we had the good stuff in. With the meth he's running 21 psi pretty much daily (he works with me, he takes his car to work usually twice a week) without any detonation whatsoever.

methanol will last awhile...unless you are driving WOT stop light to stop light then it will be used up. its not like nitrous where is will last 5-10 races
i spend $5 in methanol in about 2 weeks
I am going to use this vehicle as a daily driver, my commute is approx 55 miles each way of freeway driving, approx 2200 rpm's - I currently fill my truck 3 times a week, any guesses or any idea how much meth I might use?

I'm still interested in a kit like this for street driving. I don't think I would relie on it for a serious track day but for some of the cruise spots I want to hit I might have to go thru like 10 gallons of gas just to get there. C16 is $8/gallon.

Everything that i have read on any of the alky forums seems to lean towards straight methanol being the best to run. I know I have run 12psi before on 93 with ~0KR with my SMC kit. How much you use depends on the nozzle and pump speed as well. But as mentioned if you're not stomping it everywhere then you won't use any of it. Mine comes on at 4psi and i can easily make 7-10 passes before it even gets close to being at the warning light, 1/3 full. But i never let it get that low so I just fill it up so I don't have to worry about it. I have had the kit for over 4 months now and I am still on my 3rd gallon of methanol.. at $4.95/gal... and when i first put the turbo on I was putting 100 octane unleaded in it which was $3.65/gal... so I have saved a bunch of money so far.

I know I posted this, but for some reason I can't see it anymore . . . Steve @ SMC told me that you can use meth in his kit ONLY if you have the square tank; if you have the round one ( which I do of course ), you can't. I can only assume it is the components in the pump that wouldn't like it.

Do you guys spray the alchy before or after the MAF? Does it matter if you spray it before the MAF?

I imagine it would have to be after the MAF. I can't see the MAF working for very long getting sprayed with Methanol.

i have the stage 1 with a 220psi pump, 1 way check valve, and dual nozzle option.. and then bought a separate level sensor to use in my stock washer reservoir. main nozzle is 625ml and second nozzle (not yet installed) is 375ml.

i dont run any of that progressive stuff as it is vs. boost and my boost stays the same through the powerband... sc cars such as yourself may beneifit from using the controller but $$

I got both the 625ml and the 375ml since I was told I'd be right in between. Which should I install?? I dont see how I would be able to swap them if I went with the wrong nozzle. Im going to run 11-12# on 93. I live in FL so its pretty hot and Im running a non intercooled vortech. I was thinking maybe Id start with the 375ml and if I need more do a dual 375ml??? Should I just go with the 625ml or will it flood the combustion chamber??? Havent decided whether to use alcohol or meth.
Ive got a 5.3 with stock compression.

I am going to try my procharger without the intercooler using my alkycontrol kit . Its an realy nice kit ( you can see it in my project pics ) . Last time i talked with Julio @alkycontrol he told me they are going to remove the intercooler from an 1300 turbo motor and see if they can bring the temp down and make the same hp . Their goal is to make the car lighter cause they had a big *** water cooled intercooler and want to remove that weigth in front . I haven't heard from the results , it should be interesting . I'm gonna call him one of these days to find out . For blower this kit should be realy great cause its raising the alcohol presure with boost . So you wouldn't feel like a bog or something .
