Help - Fluidampr Problems?
383 LT1 w/ V7-YS, 79/28 ASP cogs, at 6500rpm it was making about 22lbs at the manifold. Didn't get peak power numbers because the car was running out of fuel at 5800 (610 rwhp). Brought car home to change fuel pumps and started checking things out. The balancer actually spun on the crank, looks like the keyway actuall plowed material away and swelled the balancer. The back surface of the balancer is scuffed up indicating it spun against the washer that sits between it and the timing gear, which makes me belive it spun before the the nut loosened up (using a stud and nut). The balancer had a good press fit and the key was the right size. Luckely the crank didn't get damaged, had some material transfered to it fromt he balancer, but not damaged. Has anyone else had any issues with fluidamper's? Considering trying an ATI but the spacing is a little different than the fluidamper (acording to ASP) so the pully spacing would need to be reworked.
Note, this is not my car, it's my brother's. On a side note tuning was just done at Hardcore, after spending the day there he had nothing but great things to say about the place. Dave sure can work some magic! Big props to Hardcore.
