Intercooler types. In reality i'm wondering how much of a differance there is between a tube and fin and bar and plate intercoolers?
If you have 2 intercoolers that are the exact same dimentions. Ones a tube fin and ones a bar and plate how much better would the bar and plate perform?

the bar and plate style is a better heat sink. A bar and plate setup is essentially just a fin setup. It has fins going one way, just like a tube and fin, and the plate sections are just fins that have been turned so their bottoms are showing.

Bar and plate intercoolers can cool the air better for their size. The only downside is that you have more drag due to the fins inside the tubes, making you lose a little more pressure. Tube and fin intercoolers are great for losing as little boost as possible, but you have to go a little larger to cool the air efficiently enough. Personally, I would go with bar and plate, but that's my preference. This is just my understanding, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
