Need some help gearing question.....

i could be wrong, but im almost sure they make a 7.5 spool. i was looking into them. but i may be mistaken
the 10 bolt with spool and good axles, would be as strong as a 12 bolt. the 12 bolt aint what most people think, i blew mine to crap with DOT tires!! so to put a spool in a 10 bolt would be cheeper then getting a 12 bolt.

dont calc. your gear for what you are running right now.. calc. for what trap speed you would be so happy about that you wouldnt mind having to change gears again at that point.
me 3.42 gear, 27" tire, 6500rpm redline = 150 traps.

MM is there a link to a calculator for that??? I would like to play with something like that to see what i can do with a different set of gears...

Since I respect Kp's and MM's advice I will stay with the 3.73's......if they can't get me into the 10s I will go by another members advice "stick with the 3.73's and spray it"

Noyzee how dare you call my POS 10bolt a POS. It has lived for 68000 hard miles with only losing two sets of gears....that's pretty damn good.

But what can you do, I live far away from most of the nations top tuners and they can only do so much without having the car in front of them and couple this with my crappy altitude and it makes tuning a car a real chore from far away. I do appreciate all their help and I am glad I have been able to have this board to help me with questions that I have.
MM, you rock man. I can't thank you enough for all the questions you have answered and the edit file you provided me a long time ago. This file has been priceless as a template to me to learn off of.

i know of a SC car with a nice big shot and 9 psi, it went low 10's all day in 90*+ weather!!!! Spray it!!!!!!!!

Nope you were a 6 sped errr I mean a 6 speed j/k The auto doesn't hit the rear like a manual does, no matter how hard I launched. The auto loads the drivetrain nice and even, 6 speeds shock the crap out of it. My bro with his 95 6 speed formula, he ripped his driveshaft in two when he sidestepped it in a street race.....and the car was only a H/C LT1 at the time. Same for my buddy PNYKILR here on the board he went through gears like candy with his beast of a 97 T/A 6 speed.
