Default Will my current cam work with a turbo???

Well it will happen sooner or later, I like the STS kit, but will wait to see what 5 liter is going to net, there are a few QMP deals out there and HP performance here in NM is about to release their LS1 f-body turbo kit....
so will my current blower cam work well in a turbo app?
Specs are
233/244 .578/.602 on a 115 LSA. The dyno dude said i'll be good, what do you all think?
Thanks,
J

I think it should be good. I was thinking about using one along the lines of
236/228 .590 .590 on a 116. I think Rick at synergy has a custom grind around that.
Basically I was going to get a cam from him.

DOH! PTK too Thanks Brandon.

trtturbo Thanks! just what I wanted to hear, I know it's not ideal but it will work.

Think I will get my gears installed, wait for the 26x10x15's ET Drags to arrive from jruss here on the board and get me my 10's with the ol ATI kit. I've come this far to not see it out to its goal with the s/c turbos are tempting me tho..

But i have other problems..... The damn 4L60E is going out again..... this is the lasr rebiuld for me.... thank god it only costs me between $300-$400...... its time to start saving for a TH-400.....

I have a cam I was thinking of using what do you guys think, 224/228 .575/.575 on a 117, it's a reground 03 LS6 cam. I really want something with the split the other way like 228/224, wonder how much of a difference it makes??

From all the ford threads I read all the time about cams, the only thing really a cam will effect in a turbo motor is spool up time. Peak #'s are really about the same. Guys argue that running supercharger cams will not work, but then there are those that say yes and use them.

That is what the dyno guy was telling me. He does a lot of turbo stangs, and he said my cam will do very well with a cam. Glad you hear the same thing Rick. This helps me out a ton....if I was to do a turbo kit

Granite, not really tired of the s/c but it really hasn't be as rewarding as I hoped.....especially with the cash outlay, it really has gotten rediculous.

Taqwache, yep I'm thinkn single up front, but that lil backward turbo has my attention, if it spits out some decent numbers on 5 Liter Eaters Camaro then I really will consider it. I'm kinda waiting for HP performance to release their LS1 F-body kit as they are relatively close to me(roswell 194mi trip oneway)
and they have EXCELLENT stang kits. Lets hope they carry this excellence into the F-body world.

Kyle sup buddy I decided to not persue that any further(qmp kit) I figured that I would just buy a turbo kit BRAND NEW so I knew that there should be little to no problems(other than tuning) when bolting on the kit.
But I will stick with the D1 till I hit the goal of 10's up here, it has got me this far seeing how I was running 14.7's stock lol. Then I will decide to either enjoy the car as it sits or do a turbo kit...I'm think its time to just enjoy the car.

I do think a cam can change power in a turbo car as well as the lag time, the only bad things about turbos is exhaust back pressure, on many street turbo systems exhaust manifold pressure can be 2 times the intake pressure or more. If a cam has too much overlap this can allow exhaust to "back up" into the combustion chamber and contaminate the next air/fuel mix, as well as increasing temperature in the combustions chamber. correct me if im wrong
