Converting Singe turbo engine into biturbo
Just had some thoughts wich I wanted to share.
I'm the owner of an Fiat Uno Turbo , It has an 1.4 liter engine with 8 valve's and a small IHI turbo.
It's an european car , in case the brand doesnt ring bells.
I;m currently tuning it , and was thinking about mounting an bigger turbo.
Like an t03 / kkk k026.
That wont be an problem , I can build the exhaust manifold etc myself.
But , Since I've got an spare IHI turbo , the same as is currently on my car.
I was thinking , It's an 4 cilinder engine.
What if I would mount 1 turbo on every 2 exhaustports.
So this would mean an biturbo engine , each turbo would be mounted on 2 exhaust"pipes"
Do you guys think this is possible (share computer / wastegate hoses etc)
And do you think it would increase the power.
I think it would , I'm currently running 1.0 bar on a single turbo.
If each turbo would give 0.6 bar max , I would be able to run at 1.2 bar boost.
Do you guys think this is an option , anyone with expierence?.
Or is is probably better to mount an bigger turbo.
Hope to get some reactions.
Having said that, you need to find out more about that IHI turbo on the car. Maybe it can give you all the power you want just by increasing the pressure of the existing single above 1 bar. Two turbos in parallel at .6 bar would still make .6 bar.
