Default Remote mount custom turbo setup ???

I am looking to have a decent little daily driver, nothing huge like 1000rwhp since its my daily driver. I am shooting for approx. 450rwhp, 11 second ETs. I was going to do a G5X3 cam, but for the money and the driveability, I could do a custom remote mount turbo setup, with same if not more power and a lot better driveability. With that being said, I think that someone could easily make a STS kit for cheapier then what they offer, also while adding some changes to it. Ok heres my list of questions:
-What size turbo to use? Stock STS is a T60, I want to go a little bigger, think a T67-T70 is too big for a stock motor?
-Depending on what turbo is best, what A/R would be best for my power goals and trying to eliminate lag?
-If I get a big wastegate, like a 40mm, is that too big? Is there such a thing as too big as long as I run the correct boost I have.
-How is ground clearance on the STS kit? I don't like the idea of it replacing the SFC, so I would go around that, or would it lower the ground clearance?
-On a stock motor, what PSI are you guys running with FMIC? What does your fuel system consist of?

I know slyws6 has done a custom remote mount setup, im sure he has a lot of good info, but I have a stock motor so his setup is a lot more radical then mine. I know there are a ton of STS posts, and you guys are probably sick of them, but I don't see anyone doing there own version of it, especially to save money, since im on a college budget. Thanks for any help you guys can give me, hopefully soon I am going to start to buy parts, but I want to get the right ones the first time.

I forgot to add that I don't want to run any methanol alchy etc, just 93 pump gas as if my car were completely stock, thats what I want, for it to drive stock, but I can get on it and have an extra 100-150 horses or so without worrying about anything breaking because I didn't run 100+ octane or us a alchy meth kit on it. Also I know having the turbo back there has problems with the oil lines etc, I know ill have to run a pump of some sort right? What does the STS kit use? Did you guys port the oil pump too? How does the oil lines work with the pan, make your own taps?
Those of you with basically stock motors, did you beef up the valvetrain any? I know the pushrods are pretty weak on the LS1, it would be good idea to do what springs and pushrods? But everything else will be ok? I only plan on running about 6psi or so, the most I can run safely on 93 octane, with a good tune of couse. I'm sure I'll have more questions too, bare with me guys, thanks.

I'm building a custom remote for my stock engine. I'm planning a test of a 63mm/92mm compressor tonight or tomorrow. That's close to a T66. My turbine is a bit bigger, so that could cause it not to spool.

STS uses a T04 in 60-1 trim, with a P trim turbine. I agree you could go bigger. SlyWS6 built a custom system with a T70. He was not stock cubed though.

I'll bet a T66, T67 or even a T70 will work fine.
It's not so much the compressor size and A/R, it's the turbine that's a problem in the remote mount. If you get the turbine housing A/R right, and the right turbine trim, it will spool. The trick is getting it to spool soon enough, and prevent choking at higher RPMs. (I betting on .86)

As far as the oil pump is concerned, Mocal has a good one for around $180. It has worked for other remote systems, so I'm trying it also. You can route the oil return up to the oil filler cap. That's what STS does.

Most guys just get a tune. Your fuel system will run 6psi no problem. the STS runs 5psi and 7psi with meth.

I knew there was someone else out there that was doing this.
This is the turbo/wastegate I was looking at getting, I could probably get this for around 400$
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33742

T70 turbo .84, 40mm wastegate, and I guess some cheapo BOV. But if it would work for a remote mount, it deffinitely fits my budget. As far as the oil lines go, I guess I will figure that out when I actually get the turbo and other parts. The good thing about this set up is that it can easily be installed, mocked up, changed, and taken off in a weekend. So I will be able to figure everything out as I go along and still be able to drive my car daily. I am very interested in seeing your results, keep me posted, and any other info/pics you could give me would be greatly appreciated, any problems or suggestions you have so that I could do my kit would be great, thanks.

I hear bad things about those Turbos!

http://www.turbomustangs.com/forums/...t=ssautochrome

Go Master Power.
Boosted Systems

If you do buy that turbo, make sure the V-band flange is welded onto the turbo. I have seen some ebay turbos without the flange on. You would need to get a flange kit and weld it on. The kit is about $75. But check out Master Power. I think the guys who started the company are ex Garrett guys.
