Header material choices...experts inside Im going to reproduce the CAS kit for my car and im wondering what kind of material i should use for the headers and downpipes. I have heard from several sources that the Stainless Steel CAS headers will crack over time.
Should i make them out of mild steel and get them jet hot coated? Will they last a long time if there coated?
Another option is to go with 304 or 416 Stainless but im kinda worried about them cracking because of the 5 to 1 thermal expansion compared to mild steel.
What do you guys think i should do.....

321 stainless. hands down if you want quality and light weight. Titanium if you want the best on the planet. you wont have a problem with cracking with stainless as long as you use stainless throuought your project, including the flanges and the tubes, and build the header to be self supporting.
