Default Turbo or no?

Hi everyone, never posted in here before. I've done a search in this forum and other sites turbo forums but still have a question. How is the LS1 at handling boost? Not the bottle not a supercharger but about 5-8psi of boost out of a turbo into a bone stock motor. I'm stuck in Iraq right now so my baby isn't a daily driver yet but may be when I get back. I want to know how my durability will be if I go turbo. I'm looking for power to m,ake people go wow, not anything crazy shooting for over 400 hundred to the ground. Would it be better to just do a but load of bolt ons, or just buy a turbo kit? I guess it's really a matter of opinion or preference, but was curious what you guys think.

I think it's all in the tuning.......

Sure it can handle 5psi NP if the tune is good and you're not a nut behind the wheel. Doing donuts in 110deg heat will blow up all kinds of stuff even if the tune is good. LOL

Turbos are just trickier to tune is all. If you have a goo dtuner then you'll be set and one happy camper

Thanks for the info, so you're saying 110 degree temperature burnouts are a bad thing? LOL I notice you have soon to be STS charged on your sig, it just so happens that is the kit I have in mind. Everyone can talk their hoo-haa but I think for certain people it works and works well. Others maybe not so much, no reason to put down someones product though, I've heard nothing but good things about STS products. All from unbiased sources, and reputable organizations. But would it be better to go headers, exhaust yada yada yada? or just the turbo and call her a day. How does the exhaust sound on those things? I was thinking about Magnaflow before, thought it sounded real refined yet aggresive. Is there a similar note from the turbo exhust? Well minus the BOV.

I already have an STS kit on my truck. LOL

Indeed it works well for me and my friends that have em on their Cars.

Sound? Hmm, My truck as no cats and an agressive cam AND big turbo so it doesn't sound real good without a muffler on it for me. I like the part throttle turbo whistle but it's a bit too raspy so I ran a magnaflow muffler after the turbo since I have lots of room. I sometims take it off and run around that way if I am felling in a loud mood or really want people to know I have a turbo IE cruising.

Here is what my truck sounds like with no muffler.

Sorry it's not one of my fast clips but this one has the best sound.

ls1's run real good on mild boost, no reason it can't make 450-475 to the wheels with 8 psi.

if you would only be happy with about 400rwhp, save yourself the hassle and just do it NA, a good set of heads and cam + bolt ons and youll easily be there.
but if you want over 500rwhp turbo is definatly the way to go.
if you go turbo go all the way or go home.
