Question Where to go from here?

I've done some work on my car, as listed in my sig. It's nice, but not what I'm looking for. The main problem I have with this car is that it idles like crap with that 111 LSA cam, plus I the exhast smell is strong (also because of the cam). It's not fast enough either.

I want to supercharge my car with an ATI unit, probably the D1SC or P1SC. I've considered turbo, but there don't seem to be any good kits out right now and I am not interested in the STS, mainly because it makes the dual outlet exhaust into a single outlet...plus it disables the ram air feature. They shoulda just put the turbo in the glove box.

Anyway, let's say I want to hit around 550-600 RWHP, but I dont just want high peak numbers, I want high figures throughout the power band. What is the most efficient (read: not spending a fortune) way of going from what I have now, to the a nice SC setup.

Here is my parts list:
- supercharger kit
- 12-bolt rear end
- Fuel pump
- Fuel injectors
- FI optimized cam

I know it would be nice to rebuilt the engine with forged internals, but that step alone would likely double the cost. It would be something I do later down the line. What else would be required on this list, and how much should I expect to pay for each part (assuming I can get a good deal from the one of the sponsors)?

Get rid of the cam you should be able to get a decent amount for it and get a better cam with about 6 degrees of lobe seperation like 224/230 or 220/226 etc and put it on a 114 or higher lsa. Buy yourself an ATI or a Vortech T-trim convertion from RMCR and get a 255 Walbro fuel pump with a Kenne Bell or MSD boosta pump and some 55-60 lbs injectors that will be a good start I can't gaurantee you an exact HP numbers, but you will be on your way. Good luck!

Is a Walbro pump the way to go, or is Aeromotive worth looking at? I'm probably going to get a custom grind cam for about $275, so I'll be asking around for the "best" specs to keep smooth idle with max performance. As I understand it, for FI, you want a cam with a longer intake duration. Definitely going with 112-114 LSA. I don't mind a little lope, but my current cam nearly stalls each time I stop at a red light.

The problem with turbo, on the LS1, is that it seems like everytime a kit is introduced, the company that you'd turn to for support is out of business within a few years. ATI has been around for longer than almost all of the LS1 turbo kit producers combined. If ATI made a turbo kit, I'd go for that instead.
