turbo oiling question..??
turbo oiling question..?? is it true that if the oil return line from the turbo is above the oil pan seal or the hole drilled in the pan for the return that you will not need a scavange pump to get oil back to the engine?.... and also if you have the wastegate to atmosphere can you put the wideband between the header Y and the wastegate to get an accurate reading?.... thanks to whoever may know

Secondly, IMO the closer the w02 is closer to the header, the more accurate of a reading. In many factory turbo cars, the 02 sensor is just off the exhaust manifold...well, at least on my bu-hog.
I would think anywhere the exhaust collectively can be measured but if its after the turbo and the wastegate is venting to atmosphere wouldnt it get different readings than before the wastegate?
Wideband sensors are effected by differential pressure within the exhaust.
You should ALWAYS put the wideband AFTER the turbo if you want accurate readings. This eliminates the errors from backpressure and helps to keep the sensor from overheating.
A wastegate vented to atmosphere shouldn't effect the reading. It's only open when you're actually controlling boost, so you're not introducing oxygen into the exhaust stream.
