BOV needed on an automatic?
when i say needed...i mean by "is it needed" i want to do things the RIGHT way. not "yes you CAN get away with not using it".
Thanks!
So, with a automatic, there is less wear, but its still there, so the correct answer is if you care about your turbos, then spend the $250 on a blowoff valve (Thats about what my TiAL 50MM cost) and put it on there, your turbo unit is going to cost a lot more than that to replace if you wear it out quickly.
I think thats a pretty accurate response, but if anyone has more feedback I'd like to hear it.
thats what i was saying to everyone...regardless of needed or not, its cheap insurance when you spend all this money. $200 is nothing in the world of cars.
and thanks for the explination of why they are needed! now at least i understand why you would/wouldnt need one.

But on a serious note, I'm not sure if these are available for our turbos but my friend has an Audi A4 1.8T and he got a "diverter" which diverts the air back into the engine so it's not just blown off or wasted into the air. Not sure if that is an option for us, but if so, I'd probably get that... at least it would be useful to release backpressure and divert it for later use.
