Default sts turbo + Lts?

If you have long tubes can you have the sts also? Heard different things, trying to clarify.

The sts will work fine with long tubes.

I've heard that there'll be less backpressure to spool the turbo. Don't really see how that would be. i look at it this way, no...no other turbo kit uses long tube headers, so why should someone mess with a good thing. When (if) i go STS i'll be keeping the stock manifolds....might upgrade to some shorties, (hmm, upgrade and shorties in the same sentence...) but i doubt it

I would keep the stock manifolds also, but he already has the LT's on. I usually tell people that if you have them and dont want to change, then keep them. If you dont, then dont buy them.
I'm thinking slightly port the stock manifolds. Coat them as well as the "y" and "I" pipe to keep a little heat in and it looks good also.

Yeah, what Billy said.
I have coated my entire exhaust to the turbo with POR-20 to help keep the heat in as long as possible.

Headers that are ceramic coated work the same if not better than the stock manifolds--I've tested it.If the motor has a Cam or H/C the stock manifolds hold it back.--tested that too.

Don has tested it on my car. FLP LTs w/race pipes with the STS kit. Spooling around 1800rpm maybe slightly sooner and full boost by 3300rpm. Just as told by STS themselves.

I have 5.3 heads LT's,and 228/228 cam, etc. on a stock ls1 block. Compression is around 11 to 1. What boost could I run? Anyone running the kit with a similar setup? What would ALKY allow me to run?
Any info or experience welcome, thanks.

Need to drop the compression to run any real boost. I'd say you could run 4 lbs as you are right now. Personally i wouldn't do it though.
