valve cover breather?

Default valve cover breather?

what is this and will i need this, or is it reccomended, if i have forced induction being put on my car? thanks

You might have a PCV issue once you install the blower due to the higher crankcase pressure from blowby. You will probably see oil coming through the intake hose into the intake tube. You may even blow the dipstick up. It's probably not too big of a problem with the stock Vortech. Some people just bypass the PCV system and put breathers into the valve cover holes and cap off the vacuum port so that they don't put boost pressure into the crankcase. Others try to retain the PCV system using one way vacuum valves and catch cans (in my opinion the prefered method).

Nothing wrong with puting a breather system on your ls1 motor. You'll just smell engine vapor when you have HVAC on. smells very nice I light add....

Catch can is recommended..

Look at my setup: I put a checkvalve between the intake manifold and the PCV-catchcan (it's a 98 and it need it).
I also added a catchcan between the valvecover and the blower intake pipe.
Under boost some oil (blowby) goes back to the intake: the blower will just spray it into the intake. Not too bad but you'll never know if a blower seal is gone or if it's just the PCV system.
The catchcan is put in this way so that the oil will go back to the crankcase after being retained in the can.
I tried a breather (easier than my blowby catchcan) but it messes up the LTFT. At low-middle RPM the engine will see unmetered air and will run lean. In my case the lower cells went from -2 to +10.

I went with the LS6 PCV and have had no more problems.
