Default would someone mind explaining AR ratios, etc..

I would really like to understand all of the numbers associated with a turbocharger, because i am really thinking about getting one for my car but before i do anything i like to do my research.

I have been looking at various turbo kits and just various turbos all around as well and i see things that i dont quite understand, or know how they effect the end ressult of a system.

First off what is the initial number stand for?
T70
T76
GT76R
etc?

what does that 70, 76, etc stand for as well as the letters?

Another thing is AR ratio.
.84
.96
etc. how does this effect the turbos effeciency on an engine like ours, 346ci, or a 408ci, or anything?

Thanks
Louie

Excellent link!

Another good one...

You'll also come to find out that some of the numbers (T04, GT42, etc) mean absolutely nothing.
