"Big" single turbo people....
"Big" single turbo people.... What diameter tubular headers/manifolds do you have? How far is say 1 5/8" good for? When is 1 3/4" required or beneficial? What diameter headers do the Phamspeed, PTK, TTI, homemade kits use?

A whole lot of the decision depends on the displacement of the motor, compression, size of the turbo, desired effieciency range, spool time etc.
I have a 391 CID aluminum motor with a T88 Phamspeed turbo, I run 1 5/8" headers into a 3" exhaust and a 4" downpipe. I'm looking for quick spool with a max 6300 rpm limit.

You should be able to get 1000rw on mid size motor (346-370) with 1 5/8 and 2.5" crossover; 3-3.5" downpipe. JMHO. Mustang guys have run a TON of hp through out of the box 1 5/8" headers and a small x-over, but their ports are smaller. Most LS1 kits are 1.75". Primary should not affect spool as much as crossover size, but you probably aren't limiting your self with 1.75/2.5".
