MAP ECU question
95 Chevy truck
96 350 truck motor fuel injected
Procharger P1sc supercharger
stock stall converter
brand new MAP ecu unit
He had a shop install the MAP ecu (I guess a unit that tricks the computer somehow) and then dyno the truck on a Mustang dyno. His numbers were less than stellar. 202 rwhp and 300 rwtq. I would think rwhp should be atleast in the 280/300 range on a Mustang dyno.
The truck feels like it is hitting a wall. In first gear, it takes forever to climb through the rpm's (even bucks a little), second is a little better, then third feels great.
My thought was the computer is pulling timing out, at least that is what it feels like. But why? I relate it to the MAP ecu because it happened as soon as it was plugged in.
So I tell him the easiest thing to do is unhook the new MAP ecu. But apparently it is hard wired and such. So not an easy task. So I figured I would toss this post up to see if anybody had other ideas before he unhooks it.
Thanks.
