Unhappy Tapped too far...

I just recently tapped a 1/8" NPT fitting for a connector on my turbo manifold, but accidentally went too far. Now the fitting is not seating far enough before bottoming out. Is there a way to easily repair this? Do I have to drill it to 1/4" and use a face bushing to get the 1/8" fitting to fit?

is it bottoming out on the narrow or wide end of the threads? if you have more thread left on your fitting / connector at the top and you think it'll tighten up before you run out of threads then I'd try removing some material from the bottom of the fitting / connector (shortening it, effectively). If you're colliding at the fat end of the NPT thread, then yeah, you'll have to step up to a 3/16" or 1/4" fitting.

I'm actually running out of threads on the fitting I'm installing. The fitting begins to contact the hole before I've threaded it in far enough to make it seal.

i assume this is for some EGT or sensor fitting? Yeah you're going to need to make the hole bigger.
