used tti kit q's is this kit even worth getting? from what i've read it's a pretty poor design. i've got an opportunity to pick one up for around 3k, but honestly wouldnt you say the pham kit is worth the extra $$? i was researching some stock dyno numbers and they really werent impressive. for those of you with experiance with the kit, what do you think? |
my q.m.p kit is very simialar and the results are in the sig. no alky just boost. 3 grand for a complete kit isnt bad. i would consider it. you shouldnt have any problems duplicaing my numbers with that seup. good luck |
you have basically the same setup that i would have, but i would also have a blower cam. the turbo i would be getting is the t-76 with the t-60 housing i believe, its the q-trim, if that means anything. i dont know how decent this turbo is. if i could get similar numbers to yours i would jump on it, what are the differences between this kit and ther q-m-p? |
you might want to consider the ground clearance dfference between the two systems. also, its not a poor design, it works great at the hp levels it was designed for. |
ehh, yeah, thats why i was also looking at the ptk kit, but the extra money is a little more than what i want to spend. the problem is that i eventually plan on buying a forged shortblock to try and get into the low 10's. will this kit be able to handle that kinda power? i also read that it puts extra strain on several pistons due to excess backpressure? overall i am unfamiliar with the kit, i just did a quick search on ls1.com (our search is broken again). also- where does the downpipe end? does it go out to the stock y pipe location? oh- and is the above mentioned turbo going to be a weak link? |
i havent seen anyone that actually has a ptk kit yet. low 10's isnt easy with anyones turbo sytem in an m6.. in fact there is only one production system that has run a 9.. turbotech's race system :) (see sig) the downpipe on the street kit does connect to a factory or aftermarket cat back. 76 is a good turbo, thats what i have still... like i said there is no weak link in this system if you run it in the range it is built for. if you want more than say 550rw then you will want my race kit. |
i made 512rwhp on that kit. |
so at 9psi with 6l heads and lpe's gt7 cam i'm looking at around 540rwhp-ish, with supporting fuel mods etc? |
im in the process of picking up a tti kit too, a log manifold isnt that horrible. |
i would really like to see some more numbers, KAOS has some good ones, but are these results typical? smokinhawk got 512, but i assume thats a stock head/cammed car. with this particular kit, due to the log manifolds, would i want a cam with more exhaust duration to give it more time to flow, or less exhaust duration for gas velocity, or maybe even an equal amount of exhaust duration, in comparison to the intake duration of course. i know that 0 overlap is key, but given all three setups have zero overlap, which is best? |
stock or ported 6.0L heads? not that familiar with the gt7 cam, is it made for FI? Also is the kit your getting with the t76 upgrade? |
yes, i would get the t-76. the 6.0l heads would just get a little home porting, but nothing too serious. the gt7 cam is LPE's FI cam, its a 208/230 .554/.546 121 |

i'm trying, i think some guy with a GTO is gonna try and buy it from him and try to make it work on his car :eyes: anyone know if this will work? |
a ls1 fbody street tti kit on a gto? don't see that happening, that kit was made for an fbody. |
i dont either :ripped: |
it take a lot of work to get one to fit on a gto, not worth it. but ya, mine was on a mustang dyno, i was running 126mph traps with about 3700-3800 lb car. low CR engine, 6.0 heads 224/224-114 cam. that was back done in the day when people were still learning to tune and make power with these ls1s and the high HP one was 700rwhp 500rwhp is not a problem with that kit, as i only used 10psi 93-94 octane. |
you were running a 224/224 huh? would you think that a came with equal intake and exhaust duration is the best matchup for this turbo kit? |
dont know as there arnt any dyno comparisons to back anything up. if i had to do it over i would try a 226/220-116, but thats just pulling some numbers out of my butt. realy for my personal tast, to get it to idle a little better and make more power down low id guess a reverse split would help as the logs a bit of a restriction. |
