Default Vortech MAF relocation (pictures).

I switched the MAF to the pressure side and opened up the intake side with an SLP lid. Everything that happened was good. I picked up 2 lbs. boost, from 9 to11 lbs.. As I suspected the small MAF acts as a restricter plate on the intake side. The compressor surge that I had when I would let off the gas at highway speeds is gone (I was thinking I might have to put two bypass valves on). Also it was also a little rough when started cold, it is noticeably better now. The 90 inlet elbow idea I stole from Forcefed98, the chrome tube is a diesel chrome exhaust turndown. I did have to cut some off of the fat side of the elbow at the throttle body. It was a little more of a rig than I like but nobody wanted to sell their Spectacle Solutions lid. The car feels a lot stronger, I'll get it to the track soon. I feel certain I'll put her in the 10's now.

looks good.

I wonder how much of the boost came from the maf, and how much came from the slp lid vs the very restrictive stocker

Either way, thats a impressive setup

I was racing with the tube to the air filter disconnected and the air entering directly at the MAF. Still only saw 9 lbs..

my spectacle solutions lid does a similar thing, it 45's off to give you better airflow to the blower.

my car has no problem making boost, in fact I have to keep the rpm's down so it doesn't go beyond where I want it too.

finally got money for a new bottom end can't wait to throw it in!

Ha Ha. I still have never installed my Spectacle Solutions lid and I was the one pushing so hard on that deal the last time LOL! I just have to have my recirculation nipple welded higher and with a bigger opening so the lid won't fit right now cause of my race bypass valve etc... I will be fixing that real soon. I thought it looked OK. I have been contimplating moving the maf to the presure side , but I just haven't felt the need yet. Hope you get your car back on the road GMS (Jeff Right?) I'm a Jeff also.
