i used 16 on my first kit and this one. And yes.... higher the ga #, the thinner the metal. I've got a sheet at work that tells you the nominal of each ga. You can search for it on the net.

16 gauge = .065
18 gauge = .049
20 gauge = .035

I've done quite a few sets in stainless, and will be doing a set shortly in mild. All have been 16 gauge. I thought about going thinner this time around on the racecar for weight, but opted to stick with the 16 for robustness on cracking.

If you don't want cracks stick with .065/16 stainless.

I am doing a set in 16 gauge 321. Are you aware of the cost. With flanges and tubing, It is easy to spend sell over $1000 on materials! Seems like alot of cheap kits now use mild steel, might want to find out how it has been working for people, or maybe 304. Guess it just depends on your budget.

I used 16ga. mild steel on mine. If I were doing stainless, I'd go 18ga.

well see this is the deal, my friend have a escalade 2003 and he have stainless stell headers on it shorty so its like the stock manifolds and hes trading the truck in so he is taking off the headers. sell them to me for 200 and since i was gonna use the stock truck manifolds i figure i could use the truck headers since they replaces the stock manifolds with no modifying. what do you think of that

I would find out what grade of stainless they are first. I've heard the 400 series is too weak for turbo.

Although those would look better on my '04 2500HD, Yes, 304 will work for a single turbo setup.

i was intersted if they made shorty truck headers, that would fit up to the Y, so us Fbody guys could use them like your doing.

well they are for a escalade truck so i odnt think they will bolt right up to f body esxaust but i figured why use the stock 6.0,5.3 truck manifolds and i can use the 6.0 headers the same way. Make since to me i think im gonna try it.

I was wondering if they would bolt up to the TRUCK y-pipe, not the fbody.
that way they will fit forward facing on the fbody like the 6.0 manafolds do.
Ive just never took the time to research.

they already have shorty headers for the fbody that will bolt up to the stock Y to wrk with the phamspeed budjet.
