Default another sts question: what can i do now and upgrade later?

Okay, i'm pretty much sold on the sts kit (for a cali daily driver) IF it passes smog on the 20th. I'm planning to get 918 springs (to avoid possible valve flutter), the comp cams TI retainers and chromemoly pushrods. Also, I'm thinking I might as well upgrade to a walbro intank (GSS340 i think) and 42# injectors (probably SVO - seem to be most common) The injectors might be bit big to run at 5-6psi (too big?) but i don't want to run methanol and i figure that if it has to get tuned i might as well do the injectors so they can get tuned at the same time. I was wondering if I wanted to eventually get an FMIC and run 7-8psi (no meth) can I do it without re-tuning?

I'm just trying to do what i have to now while leaving me room to do upgrades that I can install myself (FMIC, use BC to up boost). This is because the nearest LS1 shop is 3hours in any direction. All mods in sig. Thanks guys!

your list looks good.

no you cant just add the IC and up the boost without retuning.

when your ready to up the boost get everything installed and ready to go and then head of to your tuner to get it dialed in. if not we will see a post on how you toasted your engine.

I highly recommend talking to Synergy Motorsports up in Fremont. Hands down the best tune your going to get and they are Northern California's Authorized STS dealer.

cool thanks for the info. Yeah i'm thinking that synergy is where i'll get it done at. That's after seeing your earlier post about their dyno tuning that and the fact they're about as close as it gets for me (San Luis Obispo).

Coolio, it's not too bad a drive.

Some of my family is in Lompoc so I know the drive very well.

You going to do the install yourself? It's not bad at all and Rick is great with answering questions if you get stuck at all.

i think i'd be okay doing the turbo install myself, just not sure about doing the valvesprings (i hated changing the plugs) and not sure how much room i'd have to use the on-car spring compressor. just figure maybe have him do it all in one shot (get a deal maybe?). I just wasn't sure if i could drive it that far without getting it tuned.

You can drive it to have it tuned after the install. Just don't get on the gas hard until it is tuned and you will be OK.
