Default Intake Choice for future FI car.

I was wondering what you guys would recommend for a 1998 TA, TB and Manifold wise. My car is currently NA and most-likely be turbocharged hopefully within a year or less. I am looking for a TB/Manifold combination that will provide modest gains on a stock 346 block but be able to make use of the higher volume handle capabilities down the road on something along the lines of a forged 382 or 408 running boost. I was looking at a FAST 90/90 TB/Intake combo but after hearing horror stories about the 90mm TB I am leaning towards the Nick William 90mm. Has FAST fixed their TB yet ? Just wondering what you all think?

Nick Williams TB cannot be beat. The thing is a piece of art. Oh I am using NW TB and LS2 intake.

The NW TB and LS2 intake are a nice combo.

I thought the LS2 flowed less then the LS6 intake.

My understanding is that the LS2 flows less, due to larger runners

With FI the rinner size matters alot less than in a NA motor, where velosity is as important as flow

Small loss at the low end but better net flow and better velocity for the power band on many combinations What you'll notice is the LS2 actually has more rounded surfaces providing for smoother flow to support the higher velocities. It also seems to have less of the LS6 stall issues up top in part because of the cleaner runs.

It's obviously not right for small cube N/A motors but as you move up in higher RPM combos or FI, where velocity is king, you can find a payoff with it as a small step before going to one of the all out intake manifolds.

Don't confuse velocity with flow. The LS6 intake has smaller runners that translate to higher velocities in a given engine combination. Velocity becomes less of an issue in FI applications and ultimate flow capacity becomes important.

We made over 1500hp with a stock ls6 intake and a stock ported ls1 t/b, dont waste your money on a 90/90 combo if your only building a 600-700hp street car. Put the money in your short block.

Or break out the TIG welder and build your own.

Don't really feel like having to get a cowl for the hood or actually spend the time to create on myself, yet. I don't mind spendin some extra cash for something that will provide more down the road gains due to higher volume handling capabilities. Also since I am planning on having my turbo/s in the engine bay area I would like to avoid an aluminum intake since from what I have heard it absorbs and stores a good amount of heat. So I take it FAST has yet to solve its TB issues?
