Default Z06 Supercharger

I'm sure this has been discussed a thousand times, but which kit is the "hot lick" for a 2002 Z06. What are the pros and cons of the Magnacharger from Magnusson and the ATI Procharger. I like the fact that the ATI allows use of the stock hood, but is the Magna worth swapping hoods for? thanks in advance.

magnacharger provides a lot of torque down low and is great for primarily a street car. Its limitations are that it can only make a certain amout of max boost which I believe is 10 lbs which should make about 500 hp to the rear wheels.

The ATI kits on a Z06 work real well, check the kit from A + A Corvette (one of our sponsors) this is a centrifugal supercharger so it won't make as much torque down low but will end up making more mid and top end power. The D1SC head unit is good up to about 750 hp so you can grow into it if you want to boost it more and build the bottom end.

Either way you can't go wrong, personally I'd go with the ATI kit from A&A Corvette. He has his own kit that prevents belt slip and makes great power with them. You can also check the corvetteforum to see what the typical ATI setup is making power wise.

Good Luck.

I like the look, sound, street-ability, and reliability of a mag. Cut the hood and let it stick out Mags are great if you want to stay under 500rwhp and keep your power band down low. If not go with the A&A ati setup.

That was with heads and cam, so not exactly a fair comparison. Although the KB should outperform Maggie, hoods may be a problem. I personally didn’t care for the looks of the hood.

ATI and Vortech are both good units, although power transmission (belt drive) seems to be problematic on Vortech kit.

Also STS has a new offering with rear mount turbo. Results – unknown but may be worth waiting for.

A&A also is developing new turbo kit C5/6, again may be worth waiting for.

As far as ATI based kits, look at A&A and ESC of which both are proven.
