STS with 87/89 octane?
STS with 87/89 octane? I'm considering an STS for my daily driver 04' Z71, but I drive about 20,000-25,000 miles a year. Is it possible to run an STS and tune it with HP tuners to run on 87/89 octane through the week and retune for the weekend for cruising and the occasional trip to the strip on 93 octane?

Whats the big deal about paying 20 cents more...Its not that big of deal..umm lets make an example...if you fill up with 15 gal with 87 @ 2.10 thats $31.50 or 92 @ 2.30 is $34.50.....whats another 3 dollars to keep your investment safe?

Assuming 25K miles at an average of 15 MPG that extra gas will cost you about 300 dollars extra. Ask yourself, is 300 dollars spread out over a year worth 4000+ all at once when you blow your non intercooled 10:1 compression turbo motor because you tried to run it on low octane crap gas?
Yeah, I guess I was quick to post. I thought it would make more of a difference than that. I calculated $325.00 at 25,000 miles a year, HP Tuners cost more than that. Just with daily driving the turbo may even help with mpg (if I keep my foot out of it after the newness where off), since that's what the Hugger SS is for anyway.
