Default Happiness is being Stroked AND Blown

So after buying an ATI P-1SC I thought it would be a good idea to forge the bottom end. After some investigation I found out I could buy a stroker short block as cheap as I could rework my motor. And I get to keep my stoick motor. So I placed an order with Scoggin Dickey yesterday.

I'm getting a brand new 6L GM LQ9 block. It will have an Eagle 4" forged crank, Callies 6.125" forged H-beam Pro Comp rods, Diamond -18cc dish 4" forged pistons, ARP bolts throughout, & Clevite bearings.

This will topped off with a set of fresh 6L heads that will have a nice valve job & some better valves. Not sure which springs I'm going with. We will make that decision after I get all the motor specs & order the custom grind cam. I also have the 78mm LSX intake & a ported TB to let air in, and PPC 1 3/4 cermaic LT's & a Corsa 3" catback to let it out.

Oh, and I have a 3200 Yank & a ford 9" that will have 3.40s in it to make it go. Probably need to buy a drive shaft now....not sure which one to get tho.

I'm not planning on getting real agressive with it. My goal is to have it run hi 10s on pump gas & still get over 20mpg. Should be fun!

congrats!you went the same route i did....decided it was smarter to get a forged shortblock and heads and cam and still be able to keep my longblock now and sell that to make some cash back.except i went with HPE...Ive got the Eagle crank and Callies rods like you but went with Weiseco pistons and studs instead.Good luck!

only suggestion I can make just from reading other peoples experiences is that if you do a stroker motor, specially with a S/C'er, you might wanna step up to a 1 7/8 header instead of the 1 3/4. Also, quite possibly the 90 mm intake and tb depending on your goals.

Good luck with your project though.

How many cubes you looking at?

Yes, it will be a 402 with around 9.3:1 cr. I have heard the Weiscos are a better piston, but at least for now these should be fine for me. I may end up sending the head unit in at some point to be upgraded to a D series blower. At which point the 90mm intake & 1 7/8 headers might be necessary. But going from low 12s to hi 10s (I hope) should keep a smile on my face for a while. And I drive it on the street & to car shows so I don't really want to get TOO radical. Well, I do but.....
