My procharger kit is only making 5psi. of boost
I ordered a 8psi. kit........ and im only making 5psi..
So, i called procharger and they said that because i have headers and exhaust, the kit wont make 8psi. Can anyone explain !
also, i have checked for boost leaks !

it makes sense to me....they say its a 8psi kit right?on a stock motor. boost is a measurement of restriction so since you have a better flowing exhaust and headers you have less restriction. So youre making at 5psi what you should be at 8psi...so be happy!

that would depend on the rest of the setup but very likely. Now say he figures out a way to go back up to 8psi via smaller pulley or whatever then he'd made alot more than what the 8psi they told him with a totally stock motor. Its all about efficiency....hes more efficient then if he was stock now.

It all figures into the total. The guy I bought my ATI from had the alum Lingenfelter intake & was only hitting 4psi. He had to change pullies to get up close to 8. More volume in / out = less back pressure or boost. Think of it like a water hose when you squish the end. But then icreasing the boost with more air means you are running a higher risk of detonation. So then tuning is critical. It's a vicious circle....

What size S/C pulley are you running?
When I put my 8 psi kit on, ATI sent me a 4.05 inch S/C pulley. I sent it back (before I ever ran it) and got a 3.6 inch pulley and made 8 lbs of boost. I later put on a 3.4 and am making about 9 - 10 lbs.
Stock block, long tube headers, catback. SLP 1.85 rockers.
Sound familiar!

With my 6# Vortech I saw 5PSI with LT's, high flow cats, Y pipe and a Corsa.
6PSI with stock manifolds, cats and Y-pipe and the Corsa.
I would say that 8 to 5 PSI just because of the LT's is a little too much...
