Default stock 98' CAM for CAS setup???HELP

I need some advice from those that have been down the turbo road before. I building a forged 347 motor and im wondering if a stock 98' cam is the way to go. Ive heard on here before that they make good power.

Also what Comp Cams ovate valve springs do i need for my setup? will the stock rockers work? I only plan on turning 6000 RPM......and my HP goal around 475.

I believe the stock 98 cam is the vette cam of the same year. I ran that cam in my stock 98 motor and it was ok but for a few bucks more just get a new aftermarket cam that has been matched to your application and pick up some extra ponies. You already have the motor out and apart anyway. Call Speed Inc they have good turbo experiance and Im sure they can make a good reccomendation. Also 918 springs should be perfect for you and dont forget the hardened push rods, both are cheap insurance. Stock rockers work good for most people especialy for your goal (save $800)

Libertine, i looked at your car on the car domain, nice ride man. Hey, I was checking out that coolant resivoir that you are running, what is that thing? Where did you get it, how does it work, o.k. on a hot day? Does it function like the factory one? And lastly... what kind of weight savings did you get out fo going to that from the stocker? I assume you did it for piping clearancing for the IC, but I'd like to do something like that for the weight savings.

Any info is appreciated... thanks!

Ok, time to show my ***. It doesnt work yet, I got it from Ramchargers and it did have a siphon tube inside but right now the radiator is not pulling it back out. It has a threaded hole on the bottom for another fitting so I am going to try that next. I relocated the battery to the trunk so the stock overflow tank was just way too ugly to stay. Other guys have had this problem with an aftermarket tank I just need to search up the old threads and see if I can figure this out. I think it cost like $40. Its a decent piece and they are sponsors so I figured what the hell.

Hey, at least you're honest! Kudos' for that.. most people would have song and danced me on that. Please p.m. me back when you get it figured out.. that looks like an easy way to drop a good chunk of weight, and looks nice.

I'll be doing a LW battery of some sort, and keeping it up front, so I don't have to mess with the whole cabling.. and all that. Besides, moving a full weight battery to the back, actually adds weight because fo the cabling and the kill switch that is needed for nhra. If I can keep the battery up front in stock location.. no need for that kill switch, and all the added wire, and I can run a lightweight battery and still start the car no problem.

Yeah but a little weight over the drive wheels aint so bad and after running all new 2ga my windows have never gone up so fast

Cable upgrades are the way to go no mater where the battery is at.

Besides that switch looks pretty cool back there

Yeah, the switch does kinda say you mean business... but I'd just as soon not display that. When people eventually see the 8 ot cage, no rear seat, and a nos bottle mounted in the tunnel in the middle of where the seats are.. that's usually enough.
