Default Would this be a good product...

I know that with FI your a/f ratio, timing and all that crap is very important and relative to temperature.

Can someone make a device that is temp., altitude, etc.. sensetive that would compensate for everything?

It might take a while to tune for it, but i think it would be a good idea.

For example.

lets say you have 90* weather. you can tune for that weather based off of the temp. then lets say you can incrementally tune maybe every 5* or so.

So basically you would have a program or something that has a temp. sensor that would adjust the tune based off of temp, so as the temp changes, it pulls or adds timing, changes a/f, etc...

is that feesable?

Your PCM does that. If IAT goes up, timing is affected along with a slew of other things I'm sure. Speed Density tuning is (I believe) based on Temp and MAP (among other things).

Then why is it that people have said when there are huge swings in temperature you could run lean and blow your motor?

people told me that on my setup that it couldnt comensate for large temp changes and youd have to tune it every time there was a big change in temp...

Since when? Thats what the MAF does. If you are running a GOOD SD tune I don't even think you'd be in danger. Some SD tunes do have trouble when the air changes though. Sure those "people" werent talking carbs

with my setup, i believe im gonna be running a 2 bar SD setup, meaning i wont have a MAF correct?

Since I wont have a MAF, then what will control that?

your speed density tune will compensate all the way up to 14.7psi
after 14.7 psi (if no maf is used anymore) your on your own with the preset tables in the PE as they woulnd t adjust to barometric and temperature change
before when you were running the stock MAF and say you had it tuned to boost, you would be good up to about 62lb/min of air, after that is reached your on your own with the PE and no correction for baro and temp

point being is your sensors on the car are limited, after you reach the sensor limitation, your computer cant adjust, after that you have to get other sensors (probably a standalone) to adjust.
hope that makes it clear.

Just to add something. Values like MAP readings and IAT are held in a table and given the temp and all that, a value for how much fuel and how much timing, etc is given and the car runs. Your car will run fine is just about any weather condition, as long as it isn't out of the range on the tables. From LA to AZ shouldn't be too much of a stretch..the HPT software is pretty slick.
