Maggie I/C pump flow ?too much?

Default Maggie I/C pump flow ?too much?

Just finished the Magnacharger install on my car(2004 C5 Vette) and I noticed that the intercooler pump really flows a lot of water fast. Just wondering is it too fast? I mean is the water flowing so fast through the heat exchangers its not giving it enough time to change temp(release the heat) efficiently? On my previous turbo car I had a Bell eng. water/air intercooler and the pump didn't flow nearly as much volume...

Maybe a dumb question but I thought too much flow on a radiator can hurt the efficiency by not giving the water enough time in the radiator to release the heat...

Maybe I'm, just.. ..

Your thinking is correct but you'll need to check your outlet air temps to tell. You can try to restrict flow some with a smaller hole going into the heat exchanger or cut the voltage down to the pump. Hard to say without seeing it!

I used a 55 gallon per minute pump designed to pump engine coolant on my car with an air/water cooler, it worked great and I'm sure that's a lot more flow than the pump on your maggie kit. With a higher flowing pump every x amount of water does absorb less heat, but the intercooler is seeing a greater volume of cold water for when you're in boost, and it will cool down the air better.

GMHTP did a test to see at what flow the pump was most effective.They used something to vary voltage.The truck they tested had 13.2 volts going to the pump.the best performance was when they backed it down to 12 volts.try to find this article.Anyway The tech at magnison said that they want to move the water as fast as possible so...Any way I think going to a nice big reservoir would keep temps more consistant than anything else.
