Default Belt shredding problems

Belt shredding problems

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well I have been constantly having belt shredding problems everytime I go WOT. This sucks. I got a laser aligning tool and so far it seems the alt and powersteering pulley is half a rib off( this is on a C5. Can this small amount cause it? I checked the powersteering to crank and it is about dead on, havent checked the blower pulleys ( 4 inline two smooth idlers and one ribbed and blowe pulley) How much is to much off and how do I correct it. Add a washer to bring out alt pulley?

Your alignment being a half rib off will definitely spell bad news at WOT.

You can adjust the alignment via a washer / spacer or by maching the brackets / stantions.

Yes, I second. I had a ton of belt problems until I got the alignment perfect. Then it still hopped off so I went Katech.

I think that depends which kit you have.

Are you running the standard ATI kit or one of the tuner setups (ECS, A&A, MDMC, etc) ?

6 or 8 rib?

I can certainly empathize with your situation. I started with an ECS D-1SC and later upgraded to a TT setup.

How much boost are you trying to push with your current combo?

15lbs right now but it isnt any good if the belt wont stay on If I didnt have so much money invested in this setup, I would definately go turbo Where you not satified with the ECS kit? Belt problems? Just wanting to know b/c if this pulley alignment doesnt do the trick I am going to get the ECS bracket setup (around 1450) and if it is still going to shred belts I can keep that money

A 408 ci with an A&A F-1R at 14 lbs of boost shouldn't be unmanageable.

Start by getting the alignment spot on and using a good belt. I had the best luck with the Gates green stripe belts.
