they take the place of motor mounts, they hold the motor straight so it doesnt torque, car that are making alot of power generally use them because the motor would move around alot more. also you dont loose any enegry from twisitng so it allows more to make it to the ground.

Disassembled, I want that intercooler. I'm guessing it's a CAS piece? Any other details?

to: dissasembled- where did you get that intercooler? what did you have to do to get it to fit? did you have to move the radiator or anything?

to: the rest of the TT guys- where are you running your downpipes? would it be possible to mount the turbos in the front of the engine like Harland's old setup or LTLHOMER's setup, and then run the downpipe under the turbo, beside the block then back out to through the stock location? I know it probably wouldnt be possible in LTLHOMER's case because it seems like the engine mount is in the way, but what if i used the stock motor mounts?

t0: Everyone that has posted pics- i am not worthy i am not worthy

In my case, the engine torquing would cause the oil return line(s) on the turbos to hit the frame of the car, so solid motor mounts were in order.

Thanks to all of the replies. Yes i am working out of a storage unit. It's the only place i have since i am in the military. Luckily i convinced one of the local shops to let me borrow their lift all day so i can drop the car ontop of the motor and tranny when i get ready to install it. It looks like i may be going to LA so it's halting any work that can be done until i find out for sure if i am going or not. I just finished soldering together my megasquirt and need to start getting the electrical going.

The intercooler was bought from phamspeed/groundzeromotorsports but i don't know if they're being sold anymore. Here are the specs: core 25x10x3.5 vertical flow 2 2.5" inlets 1 4" outlet. I had to ditch the windshield washer resevoir, cut a half moon in the radiator support, and cut + reweld the hood release. I didn't do any of the fab work because i don't have any electricity or welding skills but the guy i took it to did a great job. The condensor and radiator are pushed back just a little bit for it all to fit but i still retain almost everything in the stock locations.

Here are some more pics: Top one is driver side turbo, next are passenger turbo and where i had to cut my frame to clearance it. I initially cut the frame with a dremel and a carbon fiber cut off wheel just so i could get the turbo to fit but my fabricator enlargened the hole for me to allow for some flex room.

Is that engine going in an f-body? just curious because that looks alot like the setup i want to build, except the intercooler would be like dissassembled's and the headers would be an equal length tube design instead of the log type.
