Default Intake boot for STS

Got a hold of STS and asked about a solid bellows for the intake as opposed to the universal bellows because it sucks shut when the throttle is adjusted even a little and until the turbo actually puts out boost it stays shut. They said maybe they'll have something in a month. Doesn't sound to efficient to me. The bellows sucks shut like a straw, then how does air flow through? Does anyone know of a solid bellows that could work as a suitable replacement for the STS intake bellow?

Are you talking about the 90* silicone directly in front of the Throttle Body? Never noticed that on my buddies car? Need to investigate...

As a temporary fix, you can put a hose clamp around the middle of the elbow. Not tight enough to squeeze it too much, just tight enough to force the hose to remain round. This way, one side can't easily flatten as it tries to suck closed.

Yeah, Cat3, that's the boot I'm talking about. I have a video of it but because I don't have access to my home computer anytime soon I won't be able to get to it. Look for it the next time you get under his hood.

And gametech, thanks for the advice. Temporary's good but Permanent's better. I'll look into trying that when I get home again.

I think the question you need to be asking is what's causing it to slam shut like that in the first place? The only time I had an issue with the bellows collapsing was when my cats came apart and clogged the turbo. Do the blades spin easily? How clean is the filter? If I were you, I'd drop the turbo and check for any restrictions lodged in the blades. That'd be my guess because that's not normal... Did STS have any ideas when you talked to them? Good luck with it!

No, they haven't told me anything. They said it's not quite common but it's been known to happen. Hmm, well if I wasn't in the Gulf I'd drop it but i'm going to take all these suggestions to heart. Thanks rotty.
