Default Vacuum line question

Just curious, what exactly do the lines going to/from the wastegate/BOV do/go? I noticed on ststurbo.com on installation pics, the wastegate doesn't have anything hooked up to it... I'm building a rear mount and this is the one thing that puzzles me!

Are you using a boost controller? If not leave the top one unplugged and run the bottom port to the turbo discharge or manifold port. Bottom gets the boost reference PSI for opening the wastegate valve. Top one you use to induce PSI to keep the gate closed longer. In a nut shell of course.

No boost controller unless it's really required, how accurate are the turbosmart progates? For some reason, I thought people were running the BOV to the WG, but have never traced it back to it... So from the turbo you run it to the intake manifold port, or out the downpipe? And from the BOV, to where?

I think this will answer your questions.

Oh I hear nothing but good things about the progate.

Man, that makes it crystal clear, thank you SO much... Should be easy to put together my kit, just hafta take it to someone who can actually tune! Not sure how boosting my ls1 with the hot cam will work out, advise putting 918 springs on it or will z06ers be sufficient? BTW, the progate was the one recommended to me by everyone I ever talked to, pretty pricey but well worth the cash. Just need a place to purchase it that won't lag 2 months before shipping!

Your not going to have much valve spring rate left to cope with boost. Your whole cam/spring package is like a catch 22 with a turbo: Larger cam wants to rev higher but boost makes your valve's float earlier. You'll probably want to change the cam to a more suitable grind after you get the turbo done and add 918's. Your current springs would be OK with the stock cam and boost as long as you dont rev to the stratosphere. Dont get me wrong it will run but its not an ideal cam for turbocharging.

I was planning on shifting around 6000, maybe 6200. NA I've been running it to 6500 no problems... I'll def. keep that in mind. I just love the "muscle car" idle of the hot cam, although I know it's not the "best" cam...
