Motor Strength?
I am looking at getting a Stage II ATI kit and running about 9lbs of boost. I was wondering how long will the motor last running this kind of boost. I would hope to get at least 75,000 miles out of it. Am I dreaming or is this realistic.

Re: Motor Strength?
I think it would be hard on a daily driven car...9lbs on stock internals...as in pistons, rods, etc would be a little tough after awhile..

Re: Motor Strength?
I'll let you know in 75,000 miles. I'm not going to be running 9psi but I should be in the same power range with my headers, cutout, and 7psi.
If you drive hard I doubt the motor will see 75,000 miles of course anything is possible. It seems that the pistons(ringlands) don't like big power for very long periods of time and with 9lbs you will have big power. I would imagine that you'd be pushing in the high 400rwhp range with just the blower and nothing else.
Have you thought about running maybe 7psi with headers and exhaust. This will still give you the power with less stress on the motor. It will also keep intake temperatures lower.
The key to keeping your motor healty though is making sure it gets enough fuel. Any detonation with 9psi and you can say bye-bye to the stock pistons.
Not trying to discourage you from 9psi but I think a better flowing motor with less boost is a better way to get the power.
Have fun.

Re: Motor Strength?
Most the time the car just goes out on the weekends and too the track. I would probably switch pullies to run at the track for normal weekend driving I could probably go to 6-7lbs.

Re: Motor Strength?
I've been pushing alot of boost onto a stock motor for about 21k miles now, 36K total on the motor
10k was at 7psi, and the rest have been at 10+ psi.
If you keep the detonation monster away things will live a long time.
Make sure you run sufficient octane and conservative advance.
At 10psi, ~100 octance, and 15* at peak torque, 21* at peak power i put 570/615 to the tires. Everyday, 500 miles a week.
